Sprockets are made on precision, computer controlled equipment. The teeth are machined to the latest standards, for maximum chain life and more efficient power transmission (most U.S. sprocket makers are still using outdated machining data). Machining is carried out on a gear hobbing machine. The teeth and the outside diameter are cut at the same time. This makes sure the teeth are concentric to the sprocket center. Most O.E.M's demand a max. run-out of 0.5mm, all AFAM sprockets have a max. run-out of only 0.2mm, more than twice as accurate as the industry standard!
Counter shaft sprockets are made of chromoly steel, machined all over for accuracy.
(These are a fantastic replacement for the factory 520 sprockets, standard on 600 to 900 monsters models. Additionally, the standard 525 sprocket on 1000 cc 2v models and 4v models can be converted to a 520 sprocket for weight reduction.)
